Featured artist - Hammond Gamble

Hammond GambleEngland-born guitarist and vocalist Hammond Gamble took up his instrument as a teenager, shortly after moving to his father's native New Zealand.

His first passion was the blues, and he formed the band Street Talk in 1974, which recorded a pair of albums prior to folding.

The band's first single was produced by Chris Hillman, while its debut album was produced by Kim Fowley.

Gamble recorded a handful of solo albums and peaked commercially with "You Make the Whole World Smile," a 1992 single released under the name the Red Nose Band; the song reached number one on the singles chart in NZ.

After several years passed without recording, Gamble released an acoustic album (Recollection) featuring fresh versions of songs spanning his career.
